Aspyr Media Inc. announced Monday that its forthcoming Macintosh conversion of Star Wars Battlefront has hit its beta development milestone. The game is expected to ship in June. Star Wars Battlefront is an action game that lets you participate in the battles seen “classic” and prequel Star Wars film trilogies, as either a single player or online against others.
In Star Wars Battlefront you can assume the role of one of 20 different soldier types from any of the four major factions — Rebel Alliance, Imperial Army, Clone Army and Droid Army. You can pound the ground as infantry, use your stealth skills as a scout, put heavy weapons to use or even pilot vehicles ranging from X-Wings and Speeders to AT-STs and Republic Gunships. Battles take place on one of more than a dozen locations across 10 distinctly different planets.
Preliminary system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.6 or later, G4/1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 2.7GB free hard disk space, ATI Radeon 8500 or Nvidia GeForce 2MX or better 3D graphics with at least 64MB VRAM and a DVD drive. The game is available for pre-order for US$49.99.
