Battery Technology Inc. (BTI) on Monday introduced the iPod Tunestir, an accessory for Apple’s iPod that combines an FM radio transmitter, FM receiver and an inline remote control all in one accessory. The iPod Tunestir is compatible with all third and fourth-generation iPods, iPod minis and iPod photo models. Coming in April, pricing for the iPod Tunestir was not announced.
The FM transmitter enables iPod users on the go in vehicles to tune their car radio into an unused radio station frequency to hear music on their iPod, rather than connecting through a cassette adapter or auxiliary wired input. The transmitter can store up to five FM frequencies. What’s more, the Tunestir lets iPod users listen to the radio, as well — they can also recall their five favorite FM radio stations. Last, the device sports an inline remote control with cord management to help change tracks, increase or decrease volume and play and pause music on the iPod. The Tunestir draws power from the iPod, so no batteries are necessary.
