Optibase Ltd. subsidiary Media 100 has announced Media 100 sw, a software-only version of its Media 100 HD editing system. The software will be distributed as a CD-ROM-based installation, available as a public beta. It’ll be distributed exclusively on CD-ROMs available at Optibase’s booth at the NAB 2005 trade show later this month.
Media 100 hopes the software-only version of its digital video editing software will appeal to professional video users with existing Media 100 i and Media 100 HD-based workflows, since the Media 100 sw package features full backward and forward support for Media 100 HD projects. Media 100 also expect the software will interest home enthusiasts and students who want to get to know Media 100 software.
The Media 100 sw package includes the editing application itself, along with full support for all Media 100 codecs. Real-time effects are available (depending on the processor and drive speed), and full media and graphics import and export is supported. Also included is a trial version of Boris Graffiti. The public beta version itself is limited, however: It cannot capture or output video. Users can use media captured using Media 100i or Media 100 HD products.
The company anticipates announcing a Media 100 sw product based on the public beta sometime this year, with FireWire deck control and I/O.
