In the last little while we’ve added reviews of a host of iPod shuffle accessories, a couple of useful cables, several speaker systems, an iPod-to-camera adapter, and a fictional pair of products.
A medium-sized box from DLO graced our front porch not long ago and within we found a smattering of gear for the iPod shuffle including Cool Caps, a pack of five colorful lanyards-with-caps; the Flip Clip, a belt clip for the shuffle; and Jam Caps, a pack of five replacement USB caps. We offered a roundup of Apple iPod shuffle accessories as well, including the iPod shuffle Sport Case, iPod shuffle Dock, iPod shuffle External Battery Pack, iPod shuffle Armband, and iPod USB Power Adapter.
Griffin Technology delivered a couple of cables we like a lot—the Dock400 and Dock800 cables. These are FireWire-to-dock connector cables—the 400 for standard FireWire ports and the 800 for FireWire 800 ports. We appreciate the former because it’s priced $4 less than what Apple charges for its no-longer-bundled-with-new-iPods FireWire cable and we’re keen on the latter because it allows us to finally use our FireWire 800 port while freeing up a precious FireWire 400 port for another piece of gear.
Reviews Editor Dan Frakes examined a slew of speakers, beginning with DLO’s somewhat quirky iBoom and ending with a roundup of USB speakers perfect for laptop listening.
We also passed judgment on Apple’s iPod Camera Connector, a $29 adapter that allows you to download pictures from your digital camera to an iPod photo and immediately view them on the iPod, at the expense of your iPod’s battery charge.
Oh, and one of our most popular reviews of late was no review at all—an April Fools Day evaluation of PodGear’s mythical PodShave and PodShaveLady.
