SiK Inc. on Tuesday introduced the ram din, a portable line-out and FireWire adapter for Apple’s iPod, iPod photo and iPod mini. The device connects to the Dock Connector found on the bottom of these devices and provides two breakout seven inch cables. Line-level audio output is provided through a right angle 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo plug, and the other cable terminates in a six-pin female FireWire 400 connector. SiK claims the ram din is useful for iPod users who want to connect their player to an external headphone amplifier or other device with line input, and power the device using FireWire as needed. The ram din is available in black or white and costs US$21.95.
