The Plasticsmith on Friday introduced the mini Shack, a stand for Apple’s Mac mini that incorporates a 7-port USB 2.0 hub. The US$69.95 device has its own AC adapter to power peripherals and also features a glowing blue LED base that you can turn on and off. Space underneath lets you wrap cords to keep them out of the way.
If you’d prefer white to blue, the Plasticsmith also offers the mini Shack in “clear,” and that one sells for $59.95. Finally, the Plasticsmith offers a “Bring Your Own Hub” version that is simply a hideaway base with enough room for a USB hub and cords, for $39.95. The Plasticsmith expects all three to begin shipping on April 29, 2005. All prices are introductory — the blue base, clear base and BYOH versions rise to $79.95, $69.95 and $49.95 beginning June 1, 2005.
