Wacom Technology Corp. on Friday introduced the Graphire Bluetooth, a graphical pen tablet compatible with Macs and PCs that communicates with its host computer using Bluetooth wireless technology. The new graphics tablet is shipping now for US$249.99.
The 6 x 8-inch tablet includes a cordless, battery-free pen that supports 512 levels of pressure sensitivity and a built-in eraser. The tablet can work up to 30 feet away from its host computer and touts a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that can work up to 25 hours between charges. A universal power adapter included with the tablet takes about five to six hours to top off the battery, according to Wacom.
The Graphire Bluetooth tablet also features two programmable buttons called ExpressKeys, which can be used to activate commonly used modifier keys, mouse-clicks or keystrokes. Included with the tablet is Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, Painter Essentials 2 by Corel and Color Efex Pro 2 GE by nik multimedia. Wacom notes the Graphire Bluetooth is compatible with Apple’s Inkwell technology.
