On Wednesday, Apple won two Awards for Innovation in Media at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference in Las Vegas.
Apple’s Final Cut Pro 5 won an award in the Content Creation category along with Avid’s Media Composer Adrenaline HD 2.1, Avid’s Symphony Nitris, the JVC GY-HD100U 3-CCD HD Camera Recorder, and the Sony HDCAM SR/HDCAM Dual Format Recorder.
Winners in the Content Management category were Apple’s QuickTime Broadcaster, Global Microwave Systems’ High Definition Messenger Transmitter (HDMT), NewTek’s TriCaster, Omneon’s Spectrum Media Server, and the Smart AV Smart Console.
The Awards for Innovation in Media are voted on by attendees at the show. The judges are looking for “technological innovations that best addressed current and upcoming issues in the electronic media industry by boosting efficiency, increasing user flexibility and creativity, and lowering cost.”
A judging panel of editors from key industry publications will review the AIM-winning technologies and other new products exhibited at the show to select an additional winner within each product category. The 2005 “Editors’ Choice” award winners will be announced on Thursday, April 28.
Apple last Sunday announced Final Cut Studio, a suite of applications that includes Final Cut Pro 5, Motion 2 and DVD Studio Pro 4, as well as a new audio editing and sound design application, Soundtrack Pro.
