Digital Voodoo has introduced the SD|Spark, a video card designed for uncompressed Standard Definition (SD) SDI/analog support on Mac OS X. The software works with Final Cut Pro HD and Power Mac G5 systems and costs US$2,495.
The SD|Spark supports 10/12 bit SD SDI input and output, 12-bit analog component, composite and S-Video, a built in analog/digital converter, DV, DVC Pro, DVC Pro 50, Photo JPEG, 2 channel of balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog audio, embedded audio I/O and 8 channels of SPDIF audio I/O.
Developed to support the “RT Extreme” capabilities of Apple’s Final Cut Pro HD, the SD|Spark can also manage real-time playback of 3 way color correction effects, additive dissolves and cross-dissolves.
The SD|Spark is compatible with QuickTime 6.5.2, Mac OS X v10.3 and the latest Power Mac G5’s. It’ll support Shake, Combustion, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and other QuickTime-compatible applications.
In related news, Digital Voodoo also announced intentions to support the H.264 codec, Quicktime 7, Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” and future releases of Final Cut Pro beyond version 4.5. The support will come in the form of free driver updates to its entire line of SD SDI/Analog and HD SDI video cards.
