Michael Tsai has updated his spam filtering software for Mac OS X e-mail clients, SpamSieve, to version 2.3. The new release adds compatibility for Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger,” Apple’s newest operating system release that will hit store shelves this Friday. Many other improvements have been made as well, including better accuracy, improved auto-trailing, speed improvements for Apple Mail users and more.
SpamSieve uses “Bayesian” filtering techniques to separate good e-mail from spam. The software works with Apple Mail, Emailer, Entourage, Eudora, Mailsmith, PowerMail, GyazMail and Outlook Express 5, and supports POP, IMAP, Hotmail and AOL mail. SpamSieve costs US$25 to register. This update is free for registered users. A 30-day trial demo version is available for download. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or later.
