Aspyr Media Inc. on Monday announced plans to release four new maps compatible with its release of Battlefield 1942. The four new maps will be released through Macgamefiles.com this Friday, April 29th, and will be available as a free download.
The maps are similar to those released for the PC, according to Aspyr. They’re entitled “Remagen,” “Faid Pass,” “The Great Pursuit,” and “Operation Forager.” Aspyr plans to make more information about the maps available later this week.
Battlefield 1942 is an arena-style combat action game in a World War II setting. With an emphasis towards online, multiplayer combat, Battlefield 1942 lets players assume the roles of Axis or Allied soldiers fighting in various areas during World War II, where you wield weapons of the era and can also man vehicles — everything from tanks, half-tracks and jeeps to fighters, bombers, and naval vessels.
Aspyr’s release of Battlefield 1942, a “Deluxe Edition,” comprises the original game and its “Road to Rome” expansion pack. Aspyr has separately published “Secret Weapons of WWII,” another expansion pack for Battlefield 1942.
