Apple on Monday released
Xsan Update 1.0.1, an update to its Storage Area Network (SAN) file system for Mac OS X. The new update is ready for download from Apple’s Web site now, and is recommended for all Xsan systems, according to Apple.
The update delivers overall improved reliability, according to Apple. Specific changes include:
Use the “mv” command to move files from Xsan (ACFS) to Mac OS Extended (HFS+) volumes.
Save files over 4 GB via SMB/CIFS to an Xsan volume hosted on Mac OS X Server.
Greater server stability when resharing Xsan volumes via NFS.
Eliminates spontaneous metadata controller failovers that can result in decreased file performance.
System requirements for Xsan 1.0.1 call for any hardware supported by Xsan, Xsan 1.0, and Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X Server v10.3.9.
