Alco Blom and René Laterveer have released SMS Mac 1.0, a utility that enables Mac users to send Short Message Service (SMS) messages to cell phones and other portable devices. The software costs US$10 per year to register, as well as $0.10 per message.
SMS Mac 1.0 lets you send short messages (typically 140-160 characters) to compatible cell phones and other devices. The software uses an Address Book plug-in to let you enter SMS messages using your contact list. The developers are also offering a test version (0.7) of the Send SMS Tiger Widget, which lets you enter SMS using Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger’s” new Dashboard interface.
Features include support for Unicode and Long SMS formats, Flash SMS (not in the U.S.) and Caller ID (also not presently supported in the U.S.). System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or higher (Dashboard support requires Mac OS X v10.4.)
