This certainly shouldn’t come as any surprise if you’ve been following news about Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” since Apple announced its launch date earlier this month, but Apple plans to have “Tiger World Premiere” events at its 105 retail stores worldwide on Friday, April 29, 2005 — Tiger’s launch day. All the stores will have Tiger on hand for sale beginning at 6 p.m. local time and running to midnight. The stores will also offer workshops and hands-on demonstrations of Tiger’s major features, and will celebrate the new release with giveaways — including the chance to win a PowerBook G4, iPod and other prizes.
Tiger goes on sale for US$129 for a single-user license. A $199 “Family Pack” license allows you to install Tiger on up to five computers in a single household. Apple is simultaneously releasing Mac OS X Server v10.4 for US$499 for a 10-client edition and $999 for an unlimited-client edition.
