Disneyland in California on Monday announced plans to podcast three days of festivities associated with its 50th anniversary celebration. Though the 50th anniversary is an 18-month affair, the podcasts will run May 3rd through May 5th, and will include celebrity interviews, music, historic anecdotes and live event coverage. Disneyland plans to produce the podcasts daily and will make them downloadable for free.
Podcasting makes audio files available for download through RSS newsfeeds; it’s a growing trend for Web sites, news resources and other online entities to make audio content available for download. Once downloaded, the audio files can be played back using iTunes or another digital music or audio player, or loaded onto an iPod (hence, “podcast”).
Disneyland has released a custom iPodder to simplify grabbing the download, and it’s available for both Mac OS X and Windows users. if you’re already using an application or service to track podcasts, Disneyland has also posted a link to their podcast feed on the page linked above.
