No surprise to regular attendees of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), but Apple confirmed on Monday that CEO Steve Jobs will take center stage at the event’s keynote when WWDC 2005 kicks off on Monday, June 6, 2005.
The five-day event features more than 140 sessions created for developers of software and hardware designed to work on Macintosh computers using Mac OS X. This year’s focus is on Apple’s new Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” operating system, which was released to the general public on Friday, April 29th.
Sessions scheduled for WWDC 2005 include detailed information to help developers create Dashboard Widgets for Tiger, Spotlight plug-ins and implementing Sync Services in applications. An Enterprise IT track will help sysadmins, IT managers and enterprise developers leverage Tiger core technologies; hands-on labs to help developers migrate their projects to XCode; sessions to learn best practices for leveraging Core Image, Xgrid, Core Data and Quartz Composer, and other ancillary activities like the Apple Developer Connection Reception, Apple Design Awards, Stump the Experts and Late Night Labs. Registration costs US$1,595 with a $300 Early Bird Discount available through May 6.
