Mesa Dynamics LLC’s new Amnesty Widget Browser is available as a public beta release. The software lets users of Mac OS X v10.4 run Dashboard widgets independently of the Dashboard environment itself — they can run on the Desktop through an icon on the system menu board. Widgets also maintain their own preferences and feature other properties like window depth and opacity.
Amnesty Widget Browser is particularly handy for widget developers looking for a rapid testing environment, rather than using Safari to load their widgets. The company plans a final release in the third calendar quarter. In related news, Mesa Dynamics LLC noted that it plans to release Amnesty Widget Factory in the same time frame — it’s billed as a widget developer’s testing and deployment tool.
