Apple on Tuesday announced the launch of four new iTunes Music Stores in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. That brings the total number of countries in which Apple operates an iTunes Music Store to 19, What’s more, Apple and UBS are offering a free iTunes Music Store song to every citizen of Switzerland as part of new promotion.
Apple said the four new European iTunes Music Stores launch with exclusives from Kent, Stereophonics and The Cardigans. The new stores are timed to coincide with the release of iTunes v4.8, a new version of the digital music jukebox software from Apple that adds downloadable music videos and other new features.
Apple noted that more than 400 million songs have been purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Music Store since its launch two years ago. The store is available to more than 70 percent of the global music market.
