Sonnet Technologies Inc. on Thursday introduced PodFreq Black, a new version of its PodFreq FM transmitter for Apple’s iPod specifically designed for the U2 Special Edition iPod. The device is functionally identical to other PodFreqs, but has been manufactured out of black and clear materials designed to “harmonize” with the black and red-clad U2 Special Edition model.
The PodFreq uses the line-out signal for the iPod, and touts a digital tuner that can broadcast to any almost frequency on the FM dial. It uses a telescoping antenna to help improve broadcast range, and integrates a dock with a mini-USB 2.0 and FireWire port for syncing and charging. Included is a car charger. The PodFreq Black is coming in June for US$99.95.
