XtraLean Software Inc. has released a new version of ShutterBug, its Web site creation tool for Mac OS X, with an emphasis on presenting visual content like photos. New to the 1.1 update are more than 50 enhancements, many driven by customer requests, according to the developer. ShutterBug 1.1 costs US$34 to register, and it’s a free update for registered users.
ShutterBug is a visual Web site creation tool that enables you to create a site without known HTML. It includes integrated design and layout tools, the ability to manipulate colors, add menu animation, slideshow fades, background images and more. Shutterbug also includes a variety of “themes” from a built-in library.
New to this release are “freeform collages,” floating pictures, centered square thumbnails, drop shadows and mult-line captions and comments. Slideshow images can have picture frames, be top aligned and appear on the same page as thumbnails. Forty-five customizable themes are now included. There are many other enhancements, as well, including image processing improvements, a streamlinned tabbed interface, object and center guidelines, auto-scroll, adjustable window panes, keyboard arrow key functionality and more.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.6 or later; it has been tested with Tiger as well. A demo version is available for download.
