MCE Technologies has announced an 8X DVD slot-loading internal SuperDrive upgrade for both the 12-inch and 14-inch iBook. The drive will record DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW media and includes Dual Layer support that can record up to 8.5GB of information at up to 2.4X speed on a single side of DVD+R Double Layer media. At US$199, the MCE 8X SuperDrive is bootable and is fully compatible with Apple’s iTunes, iDVD, Finder Burning, iPhoto, and DVD Player, according to the company.
