Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH on Saturday announced a major upgrade to Nuendo, the company’s professional media production system. The update, announced at the AES convention in Barcelona, Spain, offers new features and capabilities aimed specifically at professionals working in postproduction for film and television, according to Steinberg.
The Nuendo Network Collaboration features have been expanded in the new version, adding support for Marker Tracks, while the Online Merge function facilitates the merging of networked projects with local ones. Steinberg has also added support for HDTV Frame Rates in the Audio Pull Up/Down functions allowing Nuendo users access to the format within their DAW software.
Nuendo is also now able to interface with Euphonix hardware utilizing the EuCon protocol. This allows Nuendo to meld into studios and facilities operating the Euphonix MC and System 5-MC digital mixing and editing hardware.
Senior Nuendo Product Manager Lars Baumann said that in addition to the new features added to Nuendo, the company also “implemented improvements to existing functionality” requested by its users.
The update will be available to download in July 2005 from Steinberg’s Web site.
