Apple’s European iTunes Music Store customers can now purchase music via debit card, direct debits, invoice and bank transfer using Firstgate’s Click & Buy option. What’s more, Apple has also launched an iTunes Music Store affiliate program.
The new affiliate program, similar to its US counterpart, enables European Web sites to generate commissions as they direct customers to buy and download music from their local iTunes Music Store. Apple said it’s the first pan-European download music store to offer this kind of affiliate program. Apple is offering those people who sign up for the affiliate program between now and June 30, 2005 an opportunity to win an iPod.
The iTunes Music Store operates in 19 countries. Since it opened, the service has resulted in the purchase and download of more than 400 million songs worldwide, featuring songs from major music companies and more than 1,000 independent record labels. The catalog of each iTunes Music Store averages more than 1 million songs each, according to Apple.
