Aspyr Media Inc. noted on Monday that its long-awaited Mac conversion of The Sims 2 will hit store shelves on June 17, 2005. The Sims 2 is Maxis’ life simulation game originally published for the PC by Electronic Arts, the sequel to the best-selling Mac game ever.
In The Sims 2, you focus on one of five aspirations that will help your Sims, simulated people, have fulfilling lives from the cradle to the grave. You choose from Fortunate, Family, Popularity, Knowledge and Romance to help determine how each Sim will lead their life, then you help the Sims get what they want while avoiding their worst fears. Each decision you make has an effect on the life of your Sim. A new genetics component helps Sims pass along their traits through multiple generation.
The game also features a dramatically new and different 3D graphics engine from its predecessor, which provides a much greater level of detail and quality of graphics than the original Sims. What’s more, last week Aspyr released The Sims 2 Body Shop, a utility that lets you create your own custom Sims for The Sims 2, as a free download.
Rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB, The Sims 2 will cost US$49.99. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.8 or later, G4/1.2GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 3GB hard disk space, ATI Radeon 9000 or Nvidia GeForce FX5200 or better 3D graphics with at least 32MB VRAM and DVD drive.
