Quark Inc. announced Thursday that it is actively looking for a new chief executive officer following the sudden departure of Kamar Aulakh. “… effective immediately, Kamar Aulakh is no longer with the company,” read a statement.
Aulakh became Quark’s president in 2003 and ultimately succeeded Quark’s mercurial CEO Fred Ebrahimi in February 2004. Aulakh’s relationship with Quark stretched back to 1995 — prior to his role as president and CEO of Quark, Aulakh was vice president of research and development for the desktop publishing software giant.
Quark’s senior vice president of commerce product development, Linda Chase, has been appointed by Quark’s Board of Directors as acting president on an interim basis while the company looks for a new CEO. Quark announced that it has retained Christian & Timbers, an executive search firm, to lead the search for “professional outside leadership.”
Chase has 20 years of publishing industry experience and has led the QuarkCommerce business unit since 1998. She’ll continue to fill her current role while acting as president.
“These announcements do not affect the solid financial position, day-to-day operations or Quark’s commitment to its customers,” concluded the statement.
