Austin, Texas-based ByteTaxi Inc. on Monday announced the release of FolderShare 2.5, a file sharing and synchronization service that works with Mac OS X, Windows and Linux operating systems. FolderShare is aimed at individuals and small businesses who need to share files, according to the developer. Pricing starts at US$49.95 a year — a single license lets an individual or small business run FolderShare on an unlimited number of computers.
FolderShare tracks changed files, so when files are created, changed or deleted, each computer and device sharing the file has the latest copy. New features in this new release include the multiplatform support that makes FolderShare work between Mac OS X, Linux and Windows; “file difference” support, remote access through Web browsers, 256-bit encryption, support for Iomega StorCenter network drives and more. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.8 or later.
