RealNetworks Inc. has posted a
June Security Update
for its RealPlayer 10 multimedia player software for Mac OS X. The update can be downloaded by selecting Check for Update from the RealPlayer menu.
The update closes a security hole that offered the potential for an attacker to run arbitrary or malicious code, according to RealNetworks. The specific exploit was “to fashion a malicious RealMedia file which uses RealText to cause a heap overflow to allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on a customer’s machine.”
