Another win for Mac OS X in biotech and research: Natick, Mass.-based Etnus on Tuesday announced the release of
7.0, the first version of its debugging software to support Mac OS X. TotalView is aimed at high-performance computing environments, capable of debugging complex parallel and threaded code. Prices start at under US$1,000, according to Etnus, and TotalView 7.0 is compatible with Mac OS X v10.3 or later. A trial version is available.
TotalView can handle thousands of processes and large amounts of data. Besides Mac OS X compatibility, this new release includes C++ and F90 expression evaluation and enhancements to the software’s graphical interface.
The new release also improves debugging for systems that use Message Passing Interface (MPI), an increasingly popular technique used in high performance computing environments. The interface now provides graphical views of MPI processes.
