By now, most Mac users (even those who haven’t upgraded to Apple’s latest OS) can recite the list of Tiger’s show-stopping new features by heart. In fact, you may be tired of hearing about how Spotlight or Automator can change the very foundation of your computing life—though when put to proper use, they absolutely can.
But there’s much more to Tiger than the five or six big features that make the headlines. What really makes an OS great—and makes my job as an editor at Macworld so much fun—is uncovering the smaller secrets.
For example, did you know that you can correct photos from Preview? Just go to Tools: Image Correction to adjust the sharpness, saturation, white point, exposure, and more.
Or did you know that Address Book can print out a pocket-sized tabbed version of your entire address book so you can carry it around with you? Go to Print and choose Pocket Address Book from the Style menu. The resulting printout even includes cutting guides to help you assemble the booklet.
In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be digging deeper to unearth Tiger’s lesser known powers. And we’d like to hear from you. What secrets have you uncovered? Share it with us, either by commenting in our forum or by dropping us a line at tigertips@macworld.com. And if you need any extra incentive to share your Tiger knowledge with other Mac users, the best suggestions will appear in a future issue of Macworld .
