ArKaos has released a new version of its video jockey software, ArKaos VJ MIDI v3.5. New features in this release include FreeFrame plug-in support, Firewire video output, new automation features and a new positional effect.
ArKaos VJ MIDI 3.5 costs US$359. System requirements call for Mac OS 9.2 or later (Mac OS X v10.4 is recommended); G4/800MHz or faster; 256MB RAM; QuickTime 6.5 or later. Upgrades from ArKaos VJ 3.x are free, though 3.0 and 3.0.1 users will need to convert their existing serial numbers.
FreeFrame is an open-source framework for video plug-ins. The new release of ArKaos VJ features 42 FreeFrame effects. FireWire video output is supported on both Macs and PCs, and has been developed to enable ArKaos VJ users to record live performances and connect to digital mixers.
The new automation mode “stacks intelligently” visuals and effects to let users build an automated performance — useful for times when you need to take a break. The new positional effect allows you to control the position of your visual on a 3D planing, moving it anywhere using MIDI controllers.
