Podcasting is hot, hot, hot but preparing your work for distribution can leave you cold, cold, cold. Why not put Tiger’s Automator to good use and let it take on the more tedious aspects of podcast prep?
To learn how, visit the Automate Podcast Preparation tutorial at automator.us. Here you’ll find all the steps necessary to compress and rename your podcast as well as prepare the podcast’s RSS feed.
Note that in order for this to work you’ll need more than these instructions. To begin with, you’ll need a special set of actions designed specifically for podcasting-related file tasks. You can find those actions here.
The workflow’s Export GarageBand Project action requires UI Scripting support. To activate it, check the Enable Access for Assistive Devices option in the Universal Access system preference before running the workflow.
And in order for the Export to MPEG Audio action to function you must have a valid QuickTime Pro 7 license ($30), which you can obtain from Apple’s QuickTime site.
