G-Technology Inc. has announced their G-RAID 1000, a FireWire 800-based external storage system that uses two 500GB drives for a combined capacity of 1 terabyte when striped as a RAID Level 0 system. The G-RAID 1000 costs US$1,299 and is available now.
The G-RAID 1000 features two FireWire 800 and one FireWire 400 interface. An aluminum enclosure complements Apple’s line of Power Mac G5 and PowerBook systems, and an integral cooling fan keeps the two 7200RPM Hitachi-made hard disk mechanisms cool. It’s compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows and comes with a two year factory warranty.
G-Technology’s Web site hadn’t been updated with information about the G-RAID 1000 as MacCentral posted this article.
