Austin, Texas-based PowerLogix on Thursday introduced CPU Director v2.1, a new version of the software utility that drives PowerLogix’s PowerForce G4 ‘47 and PowerForce G3 processor upgrades for Macs. The software can be downloaded from PowerLogix’s Web site.
CPU Director displays real-time temperature information in a thermal pane window, and can also graph data over time to help monitor temperature change and potentially diagnose problems.
Dynamic Frequency Switching (DFS) lets users throttle CPU power through the Energy Saver system preference, to help conserve energy, improve efficiency and reduce heat generation.
The PowerForce G3 ZIF and Pismo — an upgrade intended for PowerBook G3 “Pismo” models — also supports “Processor Performance” under Energy Saver when used with this new version of CPU Director.
