Austin, Texas-based REAL Software on Tuesday announced that it’s shipping REALbasic 2005 Release 2, a new version of its rapid application development environment and programming language for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. The update is free for REALbasic 2005 users with a current update plan. The software costs US$99.95 for the standard edition and $399.95 for the professional edition.
The new version comes only 49 days after the first release and includes reliability improvements to the code editor, window editor, menu editor, compiler and debugger.
The new release introduces a new type of property called the Computed Property, which automatically provides Get and Set methods. The Window class now provides a Focus property that returns the currently active window control; the Array class now support sorting multiple arrays simultaneously using the same sort order; the ComboBox class exposes new properties similar to the EditField; and user-defined class properties now can include default values.
