Eastman Kodak Co. on Tuesday introduced new P-series digital cameras that are compatible with Macs and PCs. The new cameras include the Easyshare P880 zoom and P850 models.
The P880 is an 8.0 megapixel digital camera equipped with a 24 – 140mm f/2.8-4.1 wide-angle lens. The US$599 camera will be available beginning in September and incorporates 25-point auto focus, lighting control via a hot shoe flash connector, multiple shooting modes,and more. You can record VGA video at 30 frames per second using Motion JPEG compression. In addition to JPEG and TIFF image support, the P880 also supports digital camera RAW format — a novelty for Kodak digital cameras. The camera features a 2.5-inch LCD, shutter speeds from 16 to 1/4000th seconds, custom white balance, red-eye reduction and pop-up flash. It writes data to a Secure Digital flash media card, weighs 19.6 oz. and measures 4.6 x 3.8 x 3.6 inches. The P880 is PictBridge-compatible for direct digital photo output to compatible printers.
The $499 P850 will be available in August. The new camera can shoot 5.1 megapixel images and comes equipped with a 36 – 432mm f/2.8 – 3.7 lens. The camera touts optical image stabilization, 25-point autofocus, 30 fps VGA video capture, and more.
Eastman Kodak has also introduced new accessories for the P-series line, including the P20 Zoom Flash — which provides flash coverage up to 35 feet with the P-series cameras at ISO 100. Tele-converter and wide-angle accessory lenses, 1GB SD memory cards and Easyshare printer docks are also available.
