Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Laridian Inc. on Thursday announced the release of iPocketBible New Living Translation Edition, an audiobook version of the Holy Bible, New Living Translation. It costs US$49.99 and ships on 5 MP3-encoded CD-ROMs. Laridian said that iPocketBible is compatible with all iPods and iPod minis equipped with a Dock Connector.
Laridian’s iPocketBible includes the complete text and dramatized audio of the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, and also uses the iPod and iPod mini’s “Notes” feature to present the actual text for reading. A verse and subject index allows you to start at any book from Genesis to Revelation, and a Listen option links you directly to the audio. It totals more than 73 hours of audio. Along with original music and sound effects, narration is performed by Mike Kellogg, radio host of Moody Broadcasting’s Thru the Night.
The New Living Translation was published in 1996 by Tyndale House Publishers. It is billed by Laridian as a “thought-for-thought translation from the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts.”
