ATI Technologies Inc. has posted the August 2005 ATI RADEON Universal ROM Update for ATI Retail Mac Cards.
As the name implies, this is an update for the firmware on ATI’s line of retail Mac graphics cards, or more specifically:
ATI’s graphics hardware is included as OEM equipment on a wide variety of Macintosh models, but this update is specifically intended for retail graphics cards that have been bought for Power Mac systems after their initial sale.
The firmware update features vary far and wide depending on what ATI retail card model you’re updating; a Read Me file posted to the Web site outlines what’s changed. In some cases, bugs have been fixed with Formac and Sony monitors; some cards gain access to advanced controls when paired with ATI’s Displays software and more.
