Purgatory Design on Monday announced the release of Intaglio v2.4, a new version of their drawing application for Mac OS X. A free updated for all existing users, Intaglio costs US$89. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or later, but the CoreImage support requires Mac OS X v10.4 or later. A demo is available too.
Intaglio already leverages Mac OS X’s “Quartz” graphics engine, but Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” users gain the ability to create special effects for your images using CoreImage technology. You can apply filters to Intaglio graphics, constructed from multiple sources and channels. The effects are resolution-independent and scriptable, and the elements used to compose the effects remain editable, according to the developer.
Intaglio combines drawing and illustration features, and supports QuickTime graphics for importing and exporting bitmap images. It calibrates colors using ColorSync and supports Apple Type Services as well. Other Tiger-specific features include support for Spotlight and Automator.
