Gefen on Thursday announced its new 2×1 DVI KVM Switcher, which connects two computers, be they Macs or PCs, to one keyboard, one video display and one mouse. The new switch is available for US$199.
The Switcher supports Digital Visual Interface (DVI)-equipped computers, including Apple’s Mac mini, and supports video resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels. By maintaining a DVI connection throughout, unlike other KVM switches that might step down to an analog video connection first, there’s no loss of video quality, according to the manufacturer.
Also supported is USB 2.0 and audio for each computer. The Switcher can also support Apple Display Connector (ADC)-equipped displays (like older Apple Cinema Displays) when used with an adapter.
Included with the switch is a 5 volt power supply, two USB 2.0 cables, two audio cables and a user’s manual.
