Planning a visit to Boston sometime soon? Audissey Guides on Thursday announced the release of The Boston Audissey, an MP3-based walking tour of the capital of Massachusetts. It’s also available on CD, and can be transferred to iPods and other MP3-compatible players. It costs US$1.95 for the MP3 version or $19.95 for the CD.
The tour combines sound effects and music scores with narration from Boston locals ranging from Mighty Mighty Bosstones lead singer Dicky Barrett to author Michael Patrick McDonald. Twenty-seven different sites in Boston are highlighted, and the Audissey Tour presents listeners with accounts of the historical events that happened at each spot.
The 78-minute tour focuses largely on “secret” sites, helping listeners to keep their distance from tourist groups and trolleys.
Audissey Guides also has an audio tour of Cape Cod, Massachusetts’ famous beachside tourist location. The company plans future tours of New Orleans, Chicago and Charleston, South Carolina.
