SwitchEasy Ltd. has introduced the PivotDock. The company bills it as the smallest dock available for Apple’s iPod shuffle. It’s coming in September for US$15.99, though “early bird” pricing is available.
The PivotDock enables you to connect your iPod shuffle to your Mac without having the device “stick out” from a USB port. It features a 180 degree pivoting design and a green LED. It’s USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible, and works with any iPod shuffle.
SwitchEasy cautions that the PivotDock is compatible specifically with USB ports that are completely level, or flush, with the mounting surface, such as those found on aluminum-clad PowerBook G4s, Power Mac G5s, iMac G4 and G5 systems and other Mac models (a more in-depth list is on the Web site). Incompatible models include Titanium-clad PowerBook G4s, Power Mac G4 and iMac G3 systems.
