G-Technology Inc. on Wednesday introduced the G-Drive Q, a new quad-interface external hard disk drive for Macs and PCs that features FireWire 400, FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and eSATA connectivity. Coming in September, the new G-Drive will start at US$229.
The aluminum-clad G-Drive Q uses Oxford Semiconductors’ 924 chipset and sports Hitachi-made 7K500 SATA II Deskstar hard disk drive mechanisms, with capacities up to 500GB. The drive features two FireWire 800 ports, one FireWire 400 port, one USB 2.0 port and one external serial ATA (eSATA) interface. The aluminum enclosure mimics the design cues of Apple’s Power Mac G5.
