Wichita, Kan.-based WiebeTech LLC has updated its line of Forensic DriveDocks to include the Forensic FireWire DriveDock+ and >Forensic Notebook DriveDock+. The Forensic DriveDock was developed to provide forensic analysis of data storage devices; data can be examined without any risk of data being written to the drive. Both are expected to begin shipping on September 19, 2005 for US$299.95.
Forensic DriveDocks enable users to connect raw IDE-based hard disk drives to a Mac or PC for data analysis and extraction. The Forensic DriveDock+ enables you to to connect 3.5-inch drives; while the Forensic NoteBook DriveDock+ enables you to connect 2.5-inch drives. Both feature dual FireWire ports and are small enough to fit in a jacket.
The new DriveDocks now allow verification of power status. LED indicators give visual indication when a FireWire host is attached to the dock, identifies power status on the 12V input jack and disk drive and verifies if power output is operational. The new models also include a power switch.
