Kensington on Thursday announced five new accessories intended for users of Apple’s iPod systems. The new accessories include speakers, an FM transmitter, FM radio and transmitter, travel plug adapter and case. Three of the new products also work with the recently announced iPod nano.
Dock Connector compatible
The SX 2000 Speakers for iPod feature flat panel “SurfaceSound” speakers that Kensington claim provide better bass, more balanced sound and a wider “sweet spot” than traditional speakers. The SX 2000 works with any dock connector-equipped iPod, including the iPod nano. and also features auxiliary inputs to accommodate other devices equipped with a headphone jack. It costs US$159.99.
The Micro FM Transmitter for iPod also works with any Dock Connector-equipped iPod, including the iPod nano, and provides the ability to listen to your iPod music over an FM radio. It costs $49.99.
The Digital FM Radio and FM Transmitter for iPod is a 2-in-1 device that transmits your iPod’s audio to a nearby FM radio and also lets you tune in to your favorite FM radio station. It features a backlit digital display and will seek out the clearest radio station by pressing a button. This is the other device that works with any Dock Connector-equipped iPod, including the iPod nano. It costs $79.99.
iPod shuffle accessories
The Travel Plug Adapter with USB Charger lets you use electrical outlets in up to 150 different countries to charge the battery in your iPod shuffle; two modules let you charge either you iPod or other USB-powered devices, or plug in any consumer electronic AC-powered product. A button lets you slide out the appropriate plug; then you plug in the device into either the USB charger or AC module. The estimated street price is $39.99.
Transporters for iPod shuffle also offer carrying capabilities; they slide over belts or waistbands, and onto briefcases or handbags to provide you with an easy way to transport your shuffle. Transporters for iPod shuffle come with two attachments: a sleep belt-clip and a carabiner’s spring loaded clip. Transporters are equipped with proprietary locking caps to protect the USB connector and keep the iPod shuffle safe and secure. Transporters for iPod shuffle cost $19.99.
