Microsoft Corp. has announced its Xbox Live pricing structure for the upcoming Xbox 360 console, with a basic yearly fee of US$49.99 for Xbox Live Gold service.
All Xbox 360 users will be able to sign onto Xbox Live and create a gamertag and profile with the Silver membership, but only Gold users can compete in online-enabled multiplayer games.
There will be several Xbox Live packages made available at launch, including a premium $69.99 bundle that includes a one-year Gold subscription, an Xbox Live headset (not yet confirmed to be wired or wireless), a $20-off coupon for Xbox 360 games, 200 points for the Xbox Live marketplace, and access to the Xbox Live Arcade game “Bankshot Billiards”. There will also be a 3-month Gold Pack for $39.99 that will also include a headset, a $10 coupon, 100 Live points, and access to the Xbox Live Arcade game “Joust”.
Additionally, Xbox Live will not require credit cards for use, giving gamers the option to purchase memberships in cash at retail stores in one, three, and 12-month increments.
