Grass Valley, Calif.-based AJA Video Systems on Friday unveiled the KONA LH, a 10-bit uncompressed video card aimed at professional video editors. The card is designed to work with Mac OS X and Final Cut Studio, and provides Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) analog capture, as well as digital I/O. It costs US$1,790 and is shipping shortly, according to AJA.
The KONA LH also supports DVCProHD, HDV playback, DV50 and many other codecs, with hardware acceleration on-board for the playback of DVCProHD, HDV and Apple’s Dynamic RT Extreme. It also supports native Mac OS X multi-channel audio and 24-bit AES/EB digital audio at 48kHz.
Equipped with a breakout cable, the KONA LH supports BNC reference input; component, composite and S-video input and output; AES in and out and balanced audio in and out, all using XLR connectors, RS-422 machine control; standard and high definition SDI input and two SDI outputs. The KONA LH can also interface with AJA’s KL-Box, a 1 RU rack-mount enclosure that mounts all of the card’s I/O connections in a breakout box.
