Vancouver, Wash.-based Wacom Technology Corp. on Tuesday introduced its new Graphire4 pen tablet line, compatible with Macs and PCs. The new tablets come in three different color schemes and two sizes, priced at US$99 and $199, and are available immediately.
Graphire4 pen tablets come in 4 x 5 inch and 6 x 8 inch sizes. Color schemes include Silver, White and Metallic Blue.
The Graphire4 styluses feature 512 levels of pressure sensitivity, as well as two programmable side-buttons and a pressure-sensitive eraser. The tablet also includes a cordless, battery-free mouse that has up to four times the resolution of an optical mouse, according to Wacom. The mouse touts a rubberized grip and scrolling, clickable finger wheel.
The Graphire4 connects to the computer using USB and sports a transparent photo frame, so it can be customized with photos and artwork. The photo frame also includes a pen compartment (the Graphire4 comes with a pen stand as well) to keep the pen from getting lost.
The Graphire4 has a scroll wheel built into the tablet itself along with two programmable “ExpressKeys” that can be set up for navigation, mouse clicks or keyboard shortcuts.
Included with the pen tablet is Adobe Photoshop Elements 3, nik Color Efex Pro 2 GE filters, Corel Painter 2 Essentials and other software. The Graphire4 is also compatible with Apple’s Inkwell software, digital inking software technology that Apple has included in Mac OS X since Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar.”
Wacom’s Web site had not been updated with information about the Graphire4 as MacCentral posted this article.
