San Francisco-based Macromedia on Tuesday announced that the newest version of the company’s suite of applications for content authoring, Studio 8, is now available and shipping. Studio 8 sheds FreeHand, but adds two other applications giving the suite a better mix for its target customer, according to the company. Studio 8 now includes Dreamweaver 8; Flash Professional 8 (including a new Flash 8 Video Encoder); Fireworks 8; Contribute 3; and FlashPaper 2.
Macromedia Studio 8, Dreamweaver 8, Flash Professional 8, and Fireworks 8 are available for immediate purchase from the Macromedia Online Store. Localized versions in German, French and Japanese are expected to be available this month, and localized versions in Spanish, Italian, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are expected to be available in October. Studio 8 pricing is $999 for a full license and $399 for an upgrade.
