Other World Computing has announced the release of XPostFacto 4.0, a new version of the software that allows users of older Macs to install Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger,” even if the hardware isn’t officially supported by Apple. XPostFacto 4.0 is a free download, but users who find it helpful are encouraged to pay a US$25 registration fee to support its continued development.
XPostFacto 4.0 works with “beige box” Power Macs as old as upgraded 7300-era machines, Power Mac G3s and laptops that have since been either dropped by Apple’s list of machines officially supported by Mac OS X or weren’t on the list to begin with. It’ll install Mac OS X v10.2 or later, and it runs on Mac OS 9.x and higher.
