Griffin Technology Inc. on Friday announced it is shipping the iFM for iPod, an FM receiver, remote control and audio recorder for the iPod. The iFM costs US$49.99.
Clad in aluminum and equipped with a clip, the iFM plugs into the headphone and remote jacks of third- and fourth-generation iPods and iPod photo models, as well as iPod minis. It incorporates an FM radio with band-switch function for US, European and Japanese radio frequencies. You can set up to six station presets per band. A white backlit LCD displays the operating mode of the iFM.
The iFM also lets you remote-control your iPod, with play, pause, fast forward, rewind, next song, previous song, and volume controls.
For third- and fourth-generation iPod and iPod photo users, the iFM can also be used as an audio recorder. You can record FM radio or use a built-in omnidirectional microphone to record voice memos. The audio recorder is only limited by the space on the iPod’s hard drive. On fourth-generation and iPod photo models, the iFM also supports one-touch start and stop recording.
